Queer Youth Drop-In

Event Details

Join us at Willows – open to those 18 and under.

You can drop in at any point over the two hours, and do not have to stay the whole session.

This session is a safe space and open to any young people – especially those who identify as queer+, trans+ or may be questioning their identity.
This session is also open to allies of the community.
You are welcome to attend on your own or with someone to support you (this can be a friend, carer, adult or anyone of your choosing).
Queer adults, families and parents are also welcome to attend with their child/ren.

We encourage you to bring your own craft projects or games to share with others. You can also attend to just to talk and socialise, or be alone in a welcoming space.
You are welcome to bring ideas about future sessions and events – or to ask questions (for example about binding or tucking, or growing up queer and/or transitioning in Oxfordshire).

The cafe can provide food throughout the session, including vegan options. If you are worried about affording this, we can pay for you.

Young people and families who feel this session is appropriate to them can pick up free chest binders in the session. To do this, you must notify us of the size/s you would like to try in advance, either by message or email. We will not be bringing spare resources. We will be bringing tape measures and size charts for those who cannot access these outside of the session to support with measuring and sizing.
If this session is not convenient for you or you are an adult looking for a chest binder, you can email us to access free binding resources at any point:

Accessibility and Venue Info:
The nearest bus stops are Stratton Way (less than a 5-minute walk) and Abingdon High Street (less than a 5-minute walk).

We can also offer travel reimbursement to those who may find it difficult to get to the venue – simply notify us and you can pick up the money at the event. Contact us if this doesn’t work for you and we will try to find another way to get you the money.

This is a dog friendly space – you are welcome to bring your dog/s to the session. Please be aware that there may be dogs in the space if this is something you would be uncomfortable with.

Willows Shake Shop is located on Bury Street, in the centre of Abingdon.

The entrance to the cafe is flat with no step – the inside of the cafe has a flat floor with no steps and furniture can be rearranged or moved where necessary.

The venue has 1 gender-neutral toilet. The entrance to the bathroom is wide enough for a wheelchair – however there is very little (if any) space to turn after the doorway in order to reach the toilet. We would suggest this bathroom is not wheelchair accessible.

If you have any questions please contact us!
